and Tehillah benefits!

Tehillah's commitment to social action rests upon a desire for tikkun olam (repairing the world) and the active pursuit of tzedek (justice) through mitzvot (good works) and gemilut chesed (acts of loving kindness). This commitment grows from the prophetic vision of Judaism, which demands that we each dedicate ourselves personally to action that will make a genuine difference in our neighborhood, city and the world. By actively caring for and taking care of others in need, we seek to embody the highest spiritual values of the Jewish Tradition.

Bikkur Cholim
A community is bound together by more than just joy, however; by offering help when life brings sadness or pain, we also fulfill the mitzvot that guide our behavior toward one another. Among the most important of those mitzvot is Bikkur Cholim, visiting the sick. For more information on Bikkur Cholim at Tehillah, please click here.

ECS Homeless Shelter
ECS provides overnight accommodation for six homeless men referred and monitored by the city shelter program. We are always in need of volunteers to help staff the ECS Homeless Shelter from 8:30pm to 5:30am the next morning. You will be needed on the first Monday night of the month. Since others are volunteering as well, you will likely sleep over only four or five times during the course of the year. Come perform one of the greatest mitzvot. You can also help by providing food.
