Honoring the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Coming together in a crisis can be transformative. I want to thank all of you who supported all of those affected by the fire. Over a million dollars was raised, primarily in small donations. The Go Fund Me page is now closed as the community seeks to apportion the funds appropriately with assistance from the Borough President’s Office.
It is a potent reminder as we prepare to celebrate Tu B’Shvat and our environmental responsibilities along with commemorating the life and work of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King. The fact that these two commemorations fall on the same day are here to remind us that each and every one of us is capable of making a difference, in large ways and small.
