Buffalo Shooting

Last Sunday there was another massacre, this one targeting the Black community.   In the present climate, it could just easily have been the Asian community, the LGBTQ community, the Muslim community, or the Jewish community. This is a moment where we must stand together in the face of hatred. Our feet may be tired, but our hearts are open. With that last statement, I invite you in joining me in reaching out to the Buffalo African American community. I invite you to write a brief note of consolation and address it to the Buffalo Challenger Community News, 1337 Jefferson Ave, Buffalo, NY 14208,

You may decide to focus your thoughts on Katherine Massey, age 72, who wrote for the Challenger from time to time and was a strong voice in her community. You need not write much. Simply share the pain of this moment. Whether it be a note of consolation to all that knew this amazing woman, or a note that speaks to our need to stand together in the face of hate, I invite you to write from your heart if you are so moved. The community needs to hear from voices outside itself.

The pain is real and for the moment knowing that one is not alone matters.
