Census
Census
Throughout the Torah, we are counted in different ways and for different reasons. Here in the United States, the census affects us every day by determining how much federal funding goes to our communities every year for the next decade.
On Monday, the Trump administration announced that the census will end four weeks earlier than planned, on September 31. So far, 63% of American households have responded online, by mail, or by phone. At the same time that the deadline was moved up, enumerators have yet to be sent out to most New York City neighborhoods.
In this momentous year, we must literally stand up and be counted. If you have not yet filled out your census form, do so now. Go to https://2020census.gov/ and click on RESPOND.
