Queering Jonah Part 2
Thursday, September 23, 2021 • 17 Tishrei 5782
7:30 PM - 8:30 PMONLINEIn this two-part workshop, Jay Stanton will show how the Book of Jonah can be read as a coming out narrative. Through sharing in a close reading of the text, participants will gain an understanding of the figure of Jonah coming out as a prophet and coming to terms with his life's purpose. What can looking at Jonah with queer perspectives teach us about coming out, self-acceptance, and engaging from the margins? What does reading Jonah this way offer us as we begin a new year?
Jay is delighted to bring this workshop to everyone at Tehillah.
