HIAS
HIAS
In keeping with this week's theme, it seems only appropriate to suggest a donation to the Hebrew Immigration Aid Society (HIAS). HIAS was founded in 1881 to assist Jews fleeing pogroms in Russia and Eastern Europe and continues to expand its efforts to provide aid to immigrants from all over the world. Many of us have personal connections to HIAS as the organization helped our immigrant ancestors settle here in the U.S. With the constants of war and persecution of minorities all over the world, more and more refugees are in need of safe homes where they can, hopefully, prosper -- just as our ancestors did, thanks in part to HIAS.
