Magnificat

Through the pandemic, our four-legged friends have been a source of comfort, allowing us to get through this difficult time. As we begin the new year, here is one way to help cats, specifically.

Magnificat Cat Rescue is an all-volunteer organization based in Riverdale that actively rescues abandoned, often sick cats, finds them veterinary care, and places them in caring homes.

Per their website: "Magnificat Cat Rescue is not a shelter. We depend on a network of foster homes to care for cats until they can get adopted. We are limited in the number of cats we can take in, although we do our best to help cats and people. All our cats are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and tested for FIV and feline leukemia.

"Because we believe that spaying or neutering cats is essential to decreasing the number of homeless cats, we have partnered with the ASPCA to offer a monthly, low-cost spay/neuter events in our neighborhood for both feral and friendly cats. We are particularly eager to assist TNR (trap, neuter, and release) efforts and low-income families who cannot afford to take their cats to private vets."
