To Listen

Sometimes the mitzvah of the week aligns with the values highlighted in the weekly Torah portion.

As I prepare to leave for vacation, I am struck by the online vitriol that seems to be all around us. We can simply ignore it or we can confront it and ask what all of this fear and anger accomplish. Upon reflection, it does not create a more just and caring world. Rabbi Jonathan Sacks z”l, reflecting on this Torah portion, writes in his book that we do not need to find ourselves in places where all agree, but most importantly, find places where we can respect one another’s ideas even when we disagree. I am inviting us all to quest for better days.

See you at the beginning of August.
