Ukrainian Family
A local group of volunteers led by our own Irina Kimelfeld is working with HIAS and the Westchester Jewish Coalition for Immigration (WJCI) to sponsor a UKRANIAN REFUGEE FAMILY and resettle them in the Riverdale/Kingsbridge area. The family will be settled into a furnished apartment, provided with initial rental assistance, assistance in applying for government support, an initial job search; transportation, links to education as needed, and more for up to their first year in the US. This endeavor will take enormous volunteer hours and financial commitment. Government and institutional financial support will be limited and will not come close to meeting family’s basic needs. Please consider supporting this effort. Your contribution of any amount will make a difference.
Donations can be made though the fiscal sponsor, Hebrew Institute of Riverdale (HIR), who has graciously agreed to once again administer the donations and the disbursements needed once the family is here. Donations can be made by mail or online (by paypal, credit card, debit card, echeck). Irina also says that she will accept donations made via messenger pigeon. :)
